Have you sat through a team meeting feeling lost, overwhelmed by the many acronyms, intimated, feeling your voice wasn’t being heard? The Special Education process can be extremely difficult both mentally and emotionally. Working with an Educational Advocate ensures that your not alone in that process. A Special Education Advocate should know and understand the most recent Federal laws, State laws and regulations pertaining to Special Education services.
As a special education advocate, I bring an objective perspective. I can help parents write appropriate IEP goals, suggest appropriate supports and accommodations. I accompany my clients to meetings and assist in the negotiation process between parents and the school. After reading what assessments have been completed for your student, I will discuss what additional evaluations could be conducted to provide clarity, if needed. I'm able to refer you to these professionals. I meet with clients and explain testing results, make a strategic plan going forward. Don’t let another school year pass by.
My passion has been seeing the positive outcomes of successfully advocating for so many students. Knowing that for the first time they've found a love for learning. Students finally being able to feel successful, given the right supports and environment.
Look forward to working with you and Advocating for your student!
As a Special Education Advocate/Consultant I work with parents and families throughout Massachusetts. I began the journey into Special Education when my child, (now adult) was first diagnosed. I felt alone, overwhelmed and learned quickly how difficult the process would be to secure the education I knew my daughter needed. I learned firsthand how to become a strong advocate for her needs, and now for others, this is MY PASSION. I now work alongside families providing them the support I needed from the start. A student's education needs a strong foundation in order to succeed. Don't take the "wait and see" approach, trust your feelings. Every student deserves to feel confident and a sense of belonging.
Look forward to working with you and your student.
